Air Guitars against climate change

The world’s top air guitarists will gather in Oulu, Northern Finland to compete over the mastership of the invisible instrument for the 22nd time this August. In addition to choosing the world champion on Friday 25 August at the Final, the four-day event offers side program in the exotic local environment. The Air Guitar World Championships will be held on 23-26 August.

This year’s theme is climate change. Air Guitar World Championships is concerned about the quality of our mutual, invisible instrument. The theme goes along the final week’s program and collaboration with WWF Finland.

The Enrolment has begun

The world finalists will be chosen at the National Championships held in the Air Guitar Network countries during the following weeks. Other air guitarists have a chance to win a golden ticket to the Final in the Dark Horses Qualifying Round in Oulu on Thursday 24 August. The contestants can sign up in the qualifying round at the Air Guitar World Championships website. The registration deadline is Friday 11 August. National Champions and the Dark Horses will challenge the reigning World Champion, Matt “Airistotle” Burns, who returns to Oulu from USA to defend his title.

In addition to the airy rivalry, the four-day festival includes a warm-up day Airientation on Wednesday 23 August, and a soothing post-festival trip at Air Off event on 26 August. The contest events are free of charge for the audience. More info on Airientation and Air Off can be found soon on the event’s website.

The purpose of the Air Guitar World Championships is to promote world peace. According to the ideology of the Air Guitar, wars would end, climate change stop and all bad things disappear, if all the people in the world played the Air Guitar. This is why the whole universe is invited to play the Air Guitar for the world peace at the end of the competition. Air Guitar World Championships is part of Oulu August Festival network.
