Five Air Guitarists Go Through to the World Final

Altogether 19 Dark Horses battled over the last spots in the Air Guitar World Championships Final in Oulu, Northern Finland on Thursday 23 August. The highest scores were given to Corentin "AirGus" Fermont from Belgium who won the hearts of the jury with his gentleman-like performance.  Also Theun "Tremolo Theun" de Jong (NL), Jan "Geeky Gisbert" Fischer (DE), Raphael "Willy Wantmore" Monnanteuil (BE) and Justin "Nordic Thunder" Howard (US) earned their place at the Air Guitar World Championships Final. 

The contestants were judged by an authoritative jury consisting of local experts of Air Guitar and performance arts, Taina Ronkainen and Paula Puumalainen, the World Champion 2009 & 2010, French Sylvain ”Günther Love” Quimene. The jury also included national championships' organizers  Iris Dannenbauer from Germany and Ragnar Tammeleht from Estonia.

Air Guitar World Champion Will Be Crowned on Friday

The spectacular Grand Final takes place on Friday 24 August at Rotuaari Square starting at 7 p.m. (EET). In addition to the world’s best air guitarists, the stage will be taken over by Finnish pop idol Olavi Uusivirta and French air band Airnadette. The reigning World Champion, German Aline ”The Devil’s Niece” Westphal is challenged by the contestants who cleared the Qualifying Round, but also by the Air Guitar elite from all over the world. The stage will be taken by national Air Guitar champions from Japan, United Kingdom, The United States, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Russia, Czech Republic, France, and Estonia.

The Final jury is chaired by Finnish guitar legend Juha Torvinen for the 17th time. Torvinen is joined by TV host Heikki Paasonen and the World Champion 2000, Markus ”The Black Raven” Vainionpää. The jury is completed by two national championships organizers, Alexander Gott from Russia and Filip Cerny from Czech Republic.The Final is hosted by American Master of Airemonies, Dan ”Björn Türoque” Crane.
